Abstract

This part of GB/T 28029 specifies the communication protocols for train communication networks to ensure interoperability between various formations defined in GB/T 28029.6 for Ethernet train backbone networks.
The communication protocols aim to ensure interoperability in information exchange between train formations. It defines all the elements necessary for communication interoperability:
a) An architecture with defined train directions related to different train views;
b) A universal concept of function addressing;
c) A universal communication protocol for data exchange between functions;
d) A service set for train communication control.
As a limitation, this communication protocol follows the Ethernet train backbone (ETB) technology defined in GB/T 28029.6. For formation networks, a more abstract interface is defined to not limit the use of formation network technologies [such as MVB (GB/T 28029.9), CANopen (GB/T 28029.11), or ECN (GB/T 28029.12)].
Defining the content and meaning of application data (e.g., syntax and semantics) is not within the scope of the communication protocol, but belongs to the application protocol. Specifically, as shown in Figure 1, two application protocols are explicitly supported: the TCMS application protocol defined in GB/T 28029.5 and the regulations related to on-board multimedia and information services (OMTS) defined in the IEC 62580 series of standards.
