The chapter of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is replaced by the following content.
This document specifies the safety requirements for storage-type water heaters intended for household and similar use and designed to heat water to temperatures below the boiling point.
This document applies to single-phase appliances with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V, and other appliances with a rated voltage not exceeding 480 V, intended for household and similar use and designed to heat water to temperatures below the boiling point.
This document also applies to appliances not intended for general household use but that may still pose a danger to the public, such as appliances intended for use by non-professionals in stores, light industry, and farms.
This document also applies to Class I water heaters that are explicitly designed to provide emergency protection measures in the event of abnormalities in the grounding system, and such appliances must also meet the requirements of Appendix AA.
This document also applies to immersion heating units intended for installation in convertible closed-loop heat exchange water heaters, which must meet the requirements of Appendix BB.
In practical terms, the common hazards posed by the appliances covered by this document may be encountered by all people in residential and surrounding environments. However, in general, this document does not consider the following situations:
