This part provides information on the design, installation, inspection, maintenance, and testing of lightning electromagnetic pulse protection systems (LPMS) for electrical and electronic systems in buildings, in order to reduce the risk of permanent failure caused by lightning electromagnetic pulses. This part does not include protection against lightning electromagnetic interference that may cause electronic system failures. However, the information in Appendix A can also be used to evaluate such interference. For protection measures against electromagnetic interference, please refer to IEC 60364-4-44 and the IEC 61000 series [1] 1). This part can guide the cooperation between electrical and electronic system designers and protection measure designers to achieve optimal protection effects. This part does not involve the specific design of electrical and electronic systems themselves.
