This standard specifies the physical characteristics and call control procedures of the common interface between DTE and DCE for the use of start/stop transmission user service categories defined in ITU-T X.1, including the selection, call progress, and the format and protocols of the information provided by the DCE, which includes provisions for two-way operation.
