Scope

This document specifies the rules for developing consistent industry standards, which define the features that IEC 61499-1 and IEC 61499-2 need to implement in order to leverage the attributes of systems, devices, and software tools based on IEC 61499 (all parts), as follows: -- Interoperability of devices from multiple suppliers; -- Portability of software across multiple suppliers' software tools; -- Configurability of software tools from multiple suppliers for devices from multiple suppliers. These attributes are illustrated in Figure 1.
