GB/T 43267-2023 Road vehicles—Safety of the intended functionality

Scope

This document provides a general argumentation framework and guidelines for measures to ensure the safety of intended functions (SOTIF). Safety of intended functions refers to the absence of unreasonable risks caused by hazards arising from insufficient intended functions, including:
a) insufficient definition of intended function specifications at the vehicle level;
b) insufficient definition of specifications or performance limitations for electrical/electronic elements implemented in the system.
This document provides guidance on the applicable design, verification, and validation measures required to achieve and maintain SOTIF, as well as activities during the operational phase.
This document applies to intended functions that rely on complex sensors and processing algorithms for situational awareness, where the accuracy of the perception has a significant impact on safety, particularly the functions of emergency intervention systems and those related to driving automation levels L1 to L5.
This document applies to intended functions that include one or more electrical/electronic (E/E) systems installed in mass-produced road vehicles, excluding mopeds.
Reasonably foreseeable misuse falls within the scope of this document. Additionally, situations involving remote user operation, vehicle operation assistance, or background communication that could affect vehicle decision-making are also covered by this document if they may lead to safety hazards.
