Basic Information
Scope
This document describes the principles of torque measurement for Nb-Ti and Nb3Sn composite superconductors, the chemicals, instruments and equipment used, sample preparation, measurement steps, data processing, measurement uncertainty, and test reports.
This document is applicable to the measurement of torque for integrated NbTi and Nb3Sn multi-filament composite superconductors with a diameter of 0.2 mm to 2 mm (or a rectangular shape with equivalent cross-sectional area), a superconducting wire diameter of 6 μm to 200 μm, and a torque of 5 mm to 50 mm, where the substrate is copper.
This document is not applicable to superconductors with surface coatings or surface coverings that cannot be dissolved by nitric acid.
Note 1: When using this method to measure the cross-sectional shape, area, superconducting wire diameter, and torque of composite superconductors outside this range, the uncertainty will increase.
Note 2: With appropriate modifications, the measurement methods given in this document are applicable to other similar-structured composite superconductors.
