Scope

This document specifies a communication scheme for providing mobile machine status data to third-party client applications via the internet from the server of a telematics provider. Data is collected from mobile machines using telematics data recording devices and stored on the server of the telematics provider. This document describes the communication protocol for requesting data from the server and the server response containing specific data elements for analyzing machine performance and operating status. This document applies to mobile earthmoving machinery defined in ISO 6165 and mobile road construction machinery equipped with positioning and time instrumentation defined in ISO 22242. This document does not apply to on-board data collection, on-board communication protocols (such as CAN bus), or wireless transmission of mobile machine data to the telematics provider's server after it has been collected by a recorder (see Figure 1).
