Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the content of aluminum, calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, sodium, nickel, lead, vanadium, and zinc in heavy distillate oil, residual oil, and crude oil using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).
This standard is applicable to the determination of trace metals in heavy distillate oil, residual oil, and crude oil. Table 1 shows the determination concentration ranges and recommended wavelengths for each element.
