YY/T 1655-2019 Implants for osteosynthesis—Standard test method for measuring fretting corrosion of osteosynthesis plates and screws
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies a screening test method for determining the amount of metal loss due to fretting corrosion in the contact area between bone plates and bone screws in orthopaedic surgery (internal fixation of fractures). The test is conducted in accordance with the clinical use of implants. The testing machine causes relative motion between the bone plates and bone screws to simulate a possible motion mode during clinical use.
This standard can be used to test metal bone plates and metal bone screws with the same or different alloy compositions for fretting corrosion, and is also suitable for testing metal-non-metal combinations. This standard can also be used for wear and degradation studies of non-metallic materials. In addition, this standard can serve as a graded screening test method for the corrosive effects of saline and protein solutions, or for grading the anti-fretting corrosion ability of metal-metal combinations, or for studying other material combinations.
