Scope

Main Technical Content: 1. **Seed Selection**: Select seeds propagated from healthy, disease-free plants. The seed weight per thousand should be no less than 3.0 grams, and the seed quality grade must meet the second-class standard (refer to the quality grade standard for Dioscorea opposita). 2. **Seed Treatment**: Treat the seeds with fungicides before sowing. Use Jia Wufumei Seed Coating Agent at a ratio of 1:50 to mix the seeds, then dry them and prepare for planting. 3. **Sowing Period**: Spring and summer sowing are recommended, while autumn sowing is not advisable. Dioscorea opposita seedlings grow slowly during the early stage, and autumn-sown seedlings are vulnerable to cold rain and low temperatures in winter, leading to seedling loss and gaps in planting. Spring sowing occurs from late April to May, while summer sowing takes place from late June to early July. 4. **Site Selection and Tillage**: - **Site Selection**: Prefer sunlit, well-drained sandy or loamy soils with a neutral or slightly acidic pH. Avoid alkaline soils. - **Tillage**: Apply 30,000 kg of composted livestock/poultry manure, 7,500 kg of humic acid, 300 kg of urea, 1,500 kg of calcium dihydrogen phosphate, and 450 kg of potassium sulfate as basal fertilizer per hectare before plowing. Till the soil to a depth of over 40 cm, level and harrow it, then create a suitable soil moisture content (1-1.3% organic matter) with a plow layer over 40 cm in depth. 5. **Sowing**: - Open horizontal trenches 20-25 cm wide and 1-2 cm deep on prepared beds. Compact and level the bottom of the trenches with a 4-5 kg sand-filled cloth bag or foot tamping. Sow the seeds evenly in the trenches using a 5 cm-wide roller sowing machine at a rate of 2.5-3.0 kg/mu. Lightly tamp the soil with feet after sowing and cover with a layer of 0.1-0.5 cm of soil.
