Scope

This document specifies the data content, data carriers, label design, and label placement requirements for one-dimensional barcodes and two-dimensional barcodes used in shipping, transportation, and receiving labels, and provides a guide for the use of one-dimensional barcode symbols and two-dimensional barcode symbols. This document applies to the packaging label requirements agreed upon by all suppliers, carriers, customers, and other trading partners involved in shipping, transportation, and receiving. This document does not apply to one-dimensional barcodes and two-dimensional barcodes printed directly on the surface of colored corrugated cardboard.
