Scope

This document specifies the classification, characteristics, marking, and other product information of POPs, as well as the standard conditions for their use and installation, structural and operational requirements, and testing requirements. This document applies to power frequency overvoltage protection devices (POPs) for household and similar applications with a rated frequency of 50 Hz, 60 Hz, or 50/60 Hz, a rated voltage not exceeding AC 230 V (phase and neutral lines), and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. These devices can be combined with main protection devices (MPDs) or standalone devices with disconnecting devices capable of breaking the protection circuit under specified conditions. Main protection devices include circuit breakers, RCCBs, or RCBOs.
