Scope
Scope: This document provides recommendations on terminology related to the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and removals, as well as monitoring methods, during the planting and management of urban green spaces. This document can be used to measure greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide removals during urban green space management activities. It can also be referenced for carbon measurement and monitoring of projects related to urban green space carbon sequestration, carbon sink enhancement, and emissions reduction under China's carbon offset programs and other emission reduction mechanisms. Main technical content: Terms and definitions. The following terms and definitions apply to this document: - Urban green space: Urban land primarily composed of vegetation, used to improve urban ecology, protect the environment, and provide residents with recreational spaces and greening for urban beautification. - Urban green space carbon pool: The plants and soil that store carbon during the carbon cycle of urban green space ecosystems. Note: Plants include trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants. - Activity boundary: The scope of urban green space planting and management activities, including geographical, temporal, and carbon emission source/sink boundaries. If activities are conducted on several different plots, the boundary does not include areas greater than 2 meters between different plots. - Carbon measurement of urban green space planting and management activities: Determination of carbon measurement activity types and greenhouse gas emission activities. Greenhouse gas emission activities can be determined through the following two stages: - Green space planting stage: Includes tree, shrub, and herbaceous (including lawn) transportation and planting activities (including digging holes, fertilizing, and watering) after the completion of green space terrain preparation and transformation works. - Green space management stage: Includes fossil fuel combustio
