Scope

Scope: This document specifies the site selection, grass seed selection, pre-planting preparation, planting, field management, mowing, and utilization for grass cultivation under walnut trees in mountainous areas of Yunnan Province. This document is applicable to grass cultivation under walnut trees in mountainous areas of Yunnan Province. Main technical contents: 1. Site selection: Select walnut forests with a minimum spacing of 5 m between rows and a minimum spacing of 6 m between rows, good drainage, shading rate ≤ 45%, and slope ≤ 25°, with sandy or loamy soil. The environmental air quality should meet the requirements of GB 3095, and the soil environmental quality should meet the requirements of GB 15618. 2. Grass seed selection: Select grass seeds that have been nationally or locally certified and registered, and are suitable for walnut forest cultivation in mountainous areas of Yunnan, such as armgrass, oat grass, and Hotian No. 4 Kinggrass. 3. Pre-planting preparation: 3.1 Land preparation: Remove stones, weeds, and other debris from under the walnut trees, and loosen the topsoil to a depth of 10 cm to 15 cm. 3.2 Application of base fertilizer: Apply composted farmyard manure at a rate of 800 kg/667 m2 to 1000 kg/667 m2 before sowing seeds or planting rhizomes, and select appropriate fertilization methods according to different grass species. 4. Planting: 4.1 Seed and rhizome selection: Select seeds with full grains and no diseases, and rhizomes that are fully mature with intact bud points. The quality of herbaceous grass seeds should meet the requirements specified in GB 6142. 4.2 Treatment of seeds and rhizomes: Disinfect seeds and rhizomes. For seeds, soak them in a 1000-fold to 2000-fold solution of Multisporin Suspension for 10 minutes before sowing.
