Scope

This standard specifies the measurement methods and requirements for exhaust silencers used with reciprocating internal combustion engines, including laboratory measurement methods and on-site measurement methods.
The quantities measured in the laboratory (engineering method) are:
——The exhaust noise sound power level (A-weighted or frequency band) measured by the sound pressure method, with an accuracy grade of 2;
——The insertion loss of the exhaust silencer (A-weighted or frequency band);
——The power loss ratio of the reciprocating internal combustion engine.
The quantities measured on-site and in the laboratory (simple method) are:
——The exhaust noise sound power level (A-weighted) measured by the sound pressure method, with an accuracy grade of 3;
——The insertion loss of the exhaust silencer (A-weighted).
