Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the content of methyl tert-butyl ether in automotive gasoline using gas chromatography. This standard is applicable to the determination of methyl tert-butyl ether content in automotive gasoline samples with a content of 0.3% (by volume) to 10.0% (by volume). For samples with a methyl tert-butyl ether content exceeding 10.0% (by volume), the method can be used after dilution with isooctane, but the precision of the results has not been statistically analyzed yet.
