Scope
Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions of Dendrobium officinale seedlings, seedling production, quality requirements, packaging, labeling, transportation and storage, and field management requirements. This document is applicable to Dendrobium officinale seedling production; Main technical content: 4. Seedling production 4.1 Selection of parent plants The parent plants used for seedling production shall comply with the botanical characteristics of Dendrobium officinale (also known as Hejiecao) as described in the *Chinese Flora*, and be identified and approved as a cultivar. High-quality, high-yielding, disease-resistant, and stress-resistant seed sources suitable for local cultivation environments shall be selected. The seed-producing sites should have good physical isolation measures or no other Dendrobium species within a radius of 1,000 meters. The selected parent plants should be pure in cultivar characteristics and vigorous in growth. 4.2 Propagation of natural seedlings 4.2.1 During the flowering period of the seed-producing line, the most viable anthers and pistils within the same lineage are selected for pollination. The mother plants shall immediately remove the labellum after pollination and promptly affix a label. When the pods begin to turn yellow, the fully matured fruits are harvested. 4.2.2 Seedling propagation The harvested pods are cleaned with sterile water and placed on an ultra-clean bench. After soaking in 75% ethanol for 1 minute and rinsing with sterile water 3 to 5 times, the pods are soaked in 1.0% to 1.5% NaClO for 20 minutes, continuously shaking them. The pods are rinsed 5 to 6 times with sterile water until no odor remains. The pods are cut at the top with sterile scissors, gently shaken to evenly distribute the seeds, and sown on seed germination medium: MS + 100 ml/L to 200 ml coconut juice + 30 g/L sucrose + 8 g/L agar, with a pH of 5.6 to 5.8. 4.2.3 Subculture When the seedlings reach 1 mm to 3 mm
