Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, production environment, cultivation management, pest control, weed control, and harvesting for edible jute cultivation in Chaoyang and Chaonan Districts of Shantou City (other regions may refer to and implement it as appropriate). Main technical content: 4. Production Environment 4.1 The production conditions shall comply with the provisions of NY/T 5010 and be far away from the industrial “three wastes” pollution sources. 4.2 Site selection: Select soils with sufficient water sources, flat terrain, convenient irrigation and drainage, deep cultivation layers, and good water and fertilizer retention capabilities, with a pH value of 5.5 to 7.5. 5. Cultivation Management 5.1 Variety selection: Prefer high-yielding, high-quality, disease-resistant, and locally adapted edible jute varieties, such as green jute, white jute, and green-white jute. The jute seeds planted in the same plot should be pure and consistent. When sowing, use full, high-quality, and high-germination rate seeds. See Appendix A, Figures A.1 and A.2. 5.2 Tillage and fertilization 5.2.1 Prepare the field: - Widen the ridges to (90–100 cm) (excluding ditches) and make them (20–25 cm) high, with four-ring ditches (30–35 cm) wide. - Apply sufficient fully composted farmyard manure as base fertilizer during ridge preparation, in accordance with the requirements of NY/T 496 and NY/T 1118. 5.3 Sowing 5.3.1 Sowing time: Sowing can be carried out from late February to September each year, with February–March being the most suitable period when the temperature is not lower than 15°C. 5.3.2 Sowing quantity: - For sowing in February–March, use (20–30 kg)/667 m². - For sowing in April–September, use (10–15 kg)/667 m². 5.3.3 Sowing method: Use broadcast sowing. Avoid turning or covering the soil before or after sowing. If the temperature is below 20°C, cover with a film for insulation. 6. Pest Control 6.1 Control principl
