Scope

Scope: This protocol specifies the relevant terms and definitions, environmental conditions of the production site, site selection and preparation, fertilizer reduction and substitution, soil sealing and ridge covering, sowing, field management, prevention and control of major pests and diseases, and timely harvesting in dryland corn production in the Ningnan Mountainous Area. This protocol applies to dryland corn production under the conditions of full-film double-ridge trench sowing in the Ningnan Mountainous Area. Other film-covered corn production can refer to this protocol for implementation. Main technical content: 3. Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. - Fertilizer reduction: Under the existing soil fertility conditions in the Ningnan Mountainous Area, using methods such as partially replacing chemical fertilizers with organic fertilizers, substituting controlled-release formulated fertilizers for conventional fertilizers, and applying formulated fertilization, compared with traditional fertilization techniques, it reduces fertilizer input and achieves relatively stable corn yields. - Partial replacement of chemical fertilizers with organic fertilizers: Under the condition of ensuring target yield levels, replacing a certain proportion of chemical fertilizer with organic fertilizer to achieve fertilizer reduction. - Substitution of controlled-release formulated fertilizers for conventional fertilizers: Under the condition of ensuring target yield levels, substituting corn-specific controlled-release formulated fertilizers for conventional fertilizers through a single fertilization technique, so that the release pattern of fertilizer nutrients coincides with the absorption pattern of nutrients during the corn growth period. 4. Environmental conditions of the production site - Climate conditions: Suitable for frost-free periods of 135–150 days, an average annual temperature of 8–12°C, an effective
