Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) for detergents. This standard applies to sodium carboxymethyl cellulose produced from cellulose using sodium hydroxide alkalization and sodium chloroacetate etherification. This product is used as an anti-soiling redeposition agent in detergent formulations.
