Scope
This standard specifies the test method for determining the durability and deformation of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) tibial liner components in the design of double-chamber or triple-chamber knee joint prostheses under specified laboratory conditions.
This standard applies to liner components made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.
Note: Single-chamber total knee replacement (TKR) systems can also be tested according to this standard, provided that the single-chamber system has sufficient constraints to enable the use of this test method.
This standard is not applicable to testing two single-chamber knee joint systems as a double-chamber system.
