Scope

This standard specifies the performance requirements, test methods, and indicator requirements for oil mist detectors used in ship fire alarm systems. The oil mist detectors specified in this standard are primarily installed in locations where combustible liquids may leak, such as hydraulic oil, fuel, and lubricating oil systems. This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and inspection of point-type, suction-type, open-loop, or beam-type oil mist detectors on ships. Oil mist detectors based on other working principles may be used for reference. This standard does not apply to special detectors designed for specific hazards and explosive environments.
