Scope

This standard specifies the structural, performance, inspection, and testing requirements for heading control devices installed on ships.
This standard applies to heading control devices that, based on the obtained heading information, maintain the set heading within the limits related to the ship's maneuverability with minimal rudder action.
Heading control devices can work in conjunction with track control devices to control heading deviations. To control turning, turning angle speed or turning radius control can be provided.
