Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, evaluation factors, base prices, and value assessment methods for timber and its products. This document applies to the value assessment of timber and its products. **Main Technical Content**: 4. Value Assessment Factors and Their Determination 4.1 Tree Species shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 29894 *General Methods for Timber Identification*. 4.2 Volume Assessment 4.2.1 Log volume shall be calculated in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 4814 *Log Volume Table*. 4.2.2 Sawn timber volume shall be calculated in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 449 *Sawn Timber Volume Table*. 4.2.3 Wood products volume shall be converted to log volume based on the actual volume of the product and the log utilization rate. The actual volume of the wood product is considered as its volume, and the log utilization rate is calculated as 30% to 40%. The calculation formula for log volume and wood product volume is shown in Equation (1): V_product = V_log * A (1) Where: V_product – Volume of the wood product; A – Log utilization rate; W – Weight of the wood product; ρ – Density of the wood product. 4.3 Base Prices Base prices include the base prices of logs, sawn timber, and wood product raw materials. The prices of the evaluated objects shall be determined based on market prices if available, or referenced to the prices of similar timber species and their products in the same genus and species if unavailable. If no reference prices are available, the base price shall be determined based on production costs. The market price shall be determined using fair market prices, with three market prices surveyed and the average value taken. For evaluated objects without market reference prices, the base price shall be determined based on the cost method, which shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of LY/T 2047–2015.
