Scope

This standard provides recommended procedures for on-site inspection and testing of new oil well pipes (OCTG), and outlines the operational methods and technologies commonly used for on-site inspections in oil fields. Some parts of it are also applicable to factory inspections. This standard includes the qualifications of inspectors, various inspection methods, operating procedures, and calibration and verification procedures for the instruments used, as well as the evaluation of defects and the marking of inspected pipes. This standard is intended as a guide for on-site inspection and testing of new oil well pipes (OCTG), and is not suitable as a basis for acceptance (as stipulated in the relevant purchase contracts, see 5.4.2).
