Scope
This standard specifies the linear scanning method of the dynamic potential of metal materials in seawater environments to measure their polarization resistance (Rp).
This standard is applicable to the comparative evaluation of the corrosion resistance of metal materials in seawater environments. However, this method should be used with caution for easily passivated metal materials such as titanium alloys, duplex stainless steels, and high-nickel steels in seawater environments. For the determination of the polarization resistance (Rp) of metal materials in other solution environments, this standard can be referenced.
