Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, disassembly, classification and cleaning, inspection, testing and repair, assembly, performance requirements and test methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging for the remanufacturing of automotive automatic transmissions.
This standard applies to the remanufacturing of hydraulic automatic transmissions (AT), dual-clutch automatic transmissions (DCT), and continuously variable transmissions (CVT). The remanufacturing of automatic transmissions for other motor vehicles can be carried out with reference to this standard.
This standard does not apply to the remanufacturing of mechanical automatic transmissions (AMT) for automobiles.
