T/ZGLXH 001-2024 Method for estimating the volume of standing timber of common tree species in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area based on the diameter of the stump

Scope

Main technical content: This document specifies the measurement method of ground diameter (felling stump diameter). By analyzing the regression relationship between ground diameter and breast diameter of random samples of fir, Masson pine, cypress, and metasequoia (hardwood), a relationship formula between ground diameter and breast diameter is established, and a ground diameter single-tree volume table is compiled. A digital model is developed to establish a rapid calculation table for ground diameter single-tree volume. This document is applicable to the western part of Hubei Province and the mountainous counties and cities of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area with the same climate and site conditions, for solving and handling various forestry cases such as illegal logging, overlogging, and deforestation for cultivation. It can also be used as a reference for forest management, forest resource surveys, forest snow and wind disaster investigations, and quota logging management.
