Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies two methods for measuring flow rate, used to determine the time (flow rate) required for a certain amount of heated powder mixture to pass through a funnel with a fixed aperture. This kind of powder is mainly suitable for hot-pressing steel powders.
Method A uses a funnel with an aperture of 2.5 mm and a sample quantity of 50 g, mainly based on the method specified in ISO 4490. This method is only suitable for powder mixtures that can flow freely through a 2.5 mm aperture under heating conditions.
Method B uses a funnel with an aperture of 5 mm and a sample quantity of 150 g.
The experimental temperature range for both methods is 60 °C to 180 °C. After consultation with relevant parties, one of the two methods can be selected.
