Scope
This document specifies the methodological principles, instruments and sampling equipment, sample preparation, test procedures, and test reports for determining the melting temperature of slag materials.
This document is applicable to the determination of the melting temperature of metallurgical slags and continuous casting protective slags by high-temperature metallography. The determination of the melting temperature of minerals with similar compositions can also be used as a reference.
This document is not applicable to slag materials that react with platinum foil.
