Scope

This document specifies the sample preparation, sample testing, and calculation of test results for determining the nitrogen content in continuous nitride ceramic fibers using the inert gas melting thermal conductivity detection method. This document is applicable to determining the total nitrogen content in continuous silicon nitride ceramic fibers, continuous boron nitride ceramic fibers, continuous silicon boron nitride ceramic fibers, and continuous silicon boron carbon nitride ceramic fibers. The nitrogen content testing of non-continuous nitride ceramic fibers and substrates shall refer to this document. The nitrogen content testing of other ceramic fibers shall refer to this document.
