Scope

This document specifies the age-related brightness contrast required for any two different colors when viewed by people of any age, taking into account the changes in the spectral light sensitivity of the eye with age. This document provides basic calculation methods applicable to lighting, visual signs, and display design. This document is applicable to luminous or reflected light targets and displays under medium brightness conditions in clear vision, where the spectral radiation brightness is known or measurable. This document is not applicable to light seen under darker conditions such as intermediate vision or dark vision. This document provides calculation methods for the brightness contrast of color light for people aged 10 to 79, whose eyes have not undergone treatments or surgeries that may affect their spectral light sensitivity. This document is not applicable to targets and displays viewed by people with color vision deficiencies whose spectral light sensitivity differs from that of normal people, nor to targets and displays viewed by people with low vision.
