GB/T 44880-2024 Cause and effect matrix
Basic Information
Scope
This document describes the setup and implementation of a causality matrix for continuous use in engineering practice. The purpose of this document is to describe a simple format to support consistent information exchange between different engineering disciplines during project or maintenance activities. This document specifies the minimum requirements for the content of the causality matrix, which is derived from existing design documents such as P&IDs or written descriptions. This document does not address how to convert the relationships defined in the causality matrix into the functionality or source code of PLC/DCS applications, nor does it address the implementation of complex and/or sequential logic on specialized automation platforms that require additional regulations to be executed/complied with. The causality matrix can be used to record the failure responses of factory equipment, thus serving as a necessary reference point for safety verification. The causality matrix defined in this document differs in scope from fishbone diagrams or Ishikawa diagrams, which are generally referred to as causality charts.
