Scope
This standard specifies the methodological principles, testing equipment, samples, testing methods, test results, and test reports for determining the volume fraction of particles or fibers in particle-reinforced and unidirectional continuous fiber-reinforced metal matrix composites. This standard is applicable to the determination of the volume fraction of particles or fibers in particle-reinforced metal matrix composites with particle sizes greater than 1 μm or unidirectional continuous fiber-reinforced metal matrix composites with fiber diameters greater than 1 μm.
