Scope

This standard specifies the methods for the gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography determination of propionic acid and propionate in feed. This standard is applicable to the determination of propionic acid and propionate (calculated as propionic acid) in feed raw materials, compound feed, and concentrated feed with a propionic acid content of less than 3,000 mg/kg. The detection limit of the gas chromatography method in this standard is 30 mg/kg, and the quantitative limit is 100 mg/kg; the detection limit of the high-performance liquid chromatography method is 30 mg/kg, and the quantitative limit is 100 mg/kg.
