Scope

This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for orthodontic wires used in the fabrication of fixed and removable orthodontic appliances. This standard applies to preformed orthodontic arch wires. This standard does not apply to springs and other preformed products.
This standard specifies the physical and mechanical properties of orthodontic wires and the corresponding test methods, as well as detailed requirements for packaging and labeling information.
This standard does not include qualitative and quantitative requirements for possible biological hazards, but it is recommended to refer to ISO 7405 and ISO 10993-1 when evaluating possible biological hazards.
