Scope

This standard specifies the methods of measuring the thermoelectric motive force of platinum-rhodium thermocouple wires using the fuse method and the comparison method. This standard is applicable to the measurement of platinum-rhodium thermocouple fine wires with a diameter ranging from 0.05 mm to 0.1 mm. The thermoelectric motive force of other precious metal and base metal thermocouple fine wires can also be measured with reference to this standard. When using the fuse method for measurement in this standard, the thermoelectric motive force value of platinum-rhodium thermocouple wires with a diameter of 0.5 mm can be measured. The thermoelectric motive force measurement of other sizes of precious metal thermocouple wires can also be carried out with reference to this standard.
