Scope
This standard specifies the detection methods for five common seed-borne viruses in melon crops—Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Melon necrotic spot virus (MNSV), Squash mosaic virus (SqMV), and Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV)—and the molecular identification methods for Potyviridae, Tobamovirus, and Sobemovirus. This standard is applicable to the quarantine and identification of seeds from melon crops such as watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris), melon (Cucumis melo), cucumber (Cucumis sativus), squash (Cucurbita moschata), gourd (Lagenaria siceraria), zucchini (Cucurbita pepo), bamboo shoots (Cucurbita maxima), bitter melon (Momordica charantia), and loofah (Luffa cylindrica).
