Scope

This document describes the principles, reagents and materials, instrumentation, experimental procedures, data processing, recovery rates, and precision of the spectrophotometric determination of alkali metal sulfides and alkaline earth metal sulfides in cosmetics using methylene blue. This document is applicable to the determination of the content of alkali metal sulfides and alkaline earth metal sulfides (calculated as sulfur) in aqueous solutions, creams, and emulsions used in depilatory cosmetics. The method's detection limit for alkali metal sulfides and alkaline earth metal sulfides (calculated as sulfur) is 3 mg/kg, and the quantification limit is 10 mg/kg.
