This document specifies the principles, reagents and materials, instrumentation, determination steps, result calculation, recovery rate and precision, and allowable deviations for the determination of alkyl (C12~C22) trimethylammonium salts in cosmetics by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. This document is applicable to the determination of dodecyl trimethylammonium salt, tetradecyl trimethylammonium salt, hexadecyl trimethylammonium salt, octadecyl trimethylammonium salt, and dodecyl trimethylammonium salt (alkyl (C12~C22) trimethylammonium salts) in aqueous solutions, emulsions, ointments (except those based on wax), and rinse-off and leave-on cosmetics.
