Scope

This standard specifies the method for establishing the dose-response curve and time-response curve of DNA damage in human peripheral blood lymphocytes caused by ionizing radiation based on the single-cell gel electrophoresis method.
This standard is applicable to the detection of early (within 72 hours) DNA damage caused by a single acute external exposure to low-LET (LET) radiation (X or γ rays).
This standard is not applicable to the biodosimetry of people with high LET and chronic occupational exposure, non-uniform exposure, and internal exposure, or to the long-term follow-up of accidental exposure victims.
