Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for the prevention and control of occupational hazards in the ferrous metal smelting and rolling industries of the steel industry, the identification, evaluation, and management of occupational hazards, the prevention and control of occupational hazards, auxiliary facilities, emergency rescue, and assessment. It also applies to the prevention and control of occupational hazards in the coking, heat treatment, and metal surface treatment industries of the steel industry. The ferrous metal smelting and rolling industries referred to in this standard include raw (fuel) material storage and transportation, sintering (pelletizing), ironmaking, steelmaking, and steel rolling processing units.
This standard applies to new, expanded, and reconstructed construction projects and technological transformation and technological introduction projects (hereinafter referred to as construction projects) in the steel industry, as well as the prevention and control of occupational hazards during production activities. This standard does not include ionizing radiation.
