Scope

For Auger electron spectrometers used in routine analysis with an electron gun energy of at least 2 keV, this standard specifies a method for evaluating the repeatability and stability of their intensity standards. It is only applicable to instruments equipped with ion guns for sputter cleaning. This standard is not intended to serve as a calibration of the intensity/energy response function, which can be established by instrument manufacturers or other institutions. This method provides data to evaluate and confirm that the intensity/energy response function in the instrument remains constant during use, and it provides guidance on some instrument settings that can affect this stability.
