Scope

This procedure applies to the initial verification, subsequent verification, and in-use inspection of audio or light-and-sound-based strong penetrating X-ray and gamma radiation personal dose equivalent rate alarms worn on the human body.
The energy range of X-ray and gamma radiation is 50 keV to 1.5 MeV. If the alarm is intended to measure the dose equivalent rate generated by photons of higher energy (up to 10 MeV), its response must be determined at an appropriate energy level.
This procedure does not apply to the verification of weak penetrating X-ray and gamma radiation personal dose equivalent rate alarms (H·P(0.07)).
This procedure does not apply to the verification of personal alarms for neutron and beta radiation.
