Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for shipboard medium-voltage switchgear and control equipment (hereinafter referred to as medium-voltage switchgear), including rated values, operating conditions, design and structure, performance requirements, and testing. This standard applies to medium-voltage switchgear operating in shipboard power systems with AC voltages above 1 kV and up to 15 kV, and DC voltages above 1.5 kV and up to 6 kV.
