Scope
Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the feeding and care of goat kids, including the construction and environmental requirements for goat farms, lambing pens, and kid-rearing sheds; initial care for newborn goat kids; formula milk feeding techniques; key techniques and precautions; goat kid management; feed and rations; and the prevention and treatment of goat kid diseases. This document applies to the feeding and care of newborn goat kids. Main Technical Content: 3. Terminology and Definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. - **Goat Kid**: A young goat aged between birth and 2 months. - **Milk Replacer**: A powdered feed formulated to replace maternal milk based on its main components. - **Reserve Sheep**: Sheep aged between weaning and first breeding, typically 3-18 months old females. - **Fattening Lamb**: Lambs raised by grazing, indoor feeding, or mixed feeding methods. 4. Goat Farm, Lambing Pen, and Kid-rearing Shed Construction and Environmental Requirements - The goat farm site should be located in a high and dry area with good drainage, sufficient water sources, and easy epidemic prevention. - Water quality must meet the requirements of NY 5027. - The goat farm should be laid out in the following order according to the main wind direction: living and office areas, feed processing and storage areas, production and breeding areas, and manure storage and disposal areas. - The lambing pen should be designed with a double-row floor and leak-proof design, featuring good insulation, ventilation, and lighting. It should have sufficient feed troughs and watering facilities. - The kid-rearing shed should be designed with a double-row floor and leak-proof design, featuring good insulation, ventilation, and lighting, and be convenient to operate. - The kid-rearing shed area should be calculated at 0.75-0.95 m2 per kid, plus an additional 2-fold exercise area. - Kid groups should b
