Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, diamond quality, diamond quality grading, scoring rules, and diamond quality grading certificates. The color grading in this standard applies to natural colorless to light yellow (brown, gray) polished diamonds and natural colored polished diamonds. The cut grading applies to polished diamonds with standard round cuts and non-standard round cuts. The grading rules in this standard apply to polished diamonds with a weight of 0.0400g (0.20ct) or more. The grading of polished diamonds with a weight of less than 0.0400g (0.20ct) can be carried out in accordance with this standard. This standard does not apply to the quality grading of natural antique diamonds, synthetic diamonds, and treated diamonds.
