Scope
This standard is applicable to the extraction of semi-volatile organic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, phenols, phthalate esters, and organochlorine pesticides from soil and sediments. A reference list of organic compounds that can be extracted using this method is provided in Appendix A. If validated, other organic compounds can also be extracted using this method. This standard is not applicable to the extraction of organic compounds that are unstable under ultrasonic extraction conditions (such as organophosphorus pesticides).
