Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the thickness, mass (per unit area) and chemical composition of the surface layer of materials by glow discharge emission spectrometry. This standard is limited to the description of the general procedures for quantitative depth analysis by glow discharge emission spectrometry, and cannot be directly applied to the quantitative analysis of individual materials with different thicknesses and elements. Note: Any standard for surface analysis of test materials requires specifying the surface layer thickness and the elements to be analyzed, and providing inter-laboratory common experimental results to confirm the validity of the method.
